You have the right to a safe work environment

Unfortunately, workers in the construction industry are often exposed to more hazardous working conditions than those in other industries. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, construction accidents accounted for nearly 1,000 fatal injuries on the job in 2008.

If you are the victim of a construction accident, contact the experienced construction accident lawyers at Greene Reid & Pomeroy Injury Lawyers today.

Construction Accident Attorneys

Some construction workers are limited by law to receiving only workers’ compensation for their construction injuries. However, in many cases, workers can also recover damages from partially or completely responsible parties, who are not their employer, for causing their injuries, based upon theories of negligence, product liability and a special section of New York law known as the Labor Law.

If you were hurt due to inadequate job safety, inadequate site safety, or defective tools or equipment, you may be able to file a personal injury claim against the manufacturer. You also may be able to recover damages from the owner of the site and the general contractor. The responsible party may be held liable for damages, including medical bills, loss of wages, and pain and suffering.

In the event that you are injured at work, you can apply for workers’ compensation benefits. But you may not know that you may also be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits in addition to workers’ compensation. If you were injured because of one of these unsafe conditions on a job site, you may be eligible for benefits for:

  • electrocution

  • falls

  • failed safety equipment

  • failure to provide safety equipment

  • heavy machinery

  • miscommunication

It is the general contractor’s or owner’s responsibility to maintain a safe job site. If you were injured because of unsafe conditions on your job site, you may be eligible for compensation for your medical bills and lost wages. We know what benefits are available to you and how to get them.  We can offer you the guidance you need to navigate getting the benefits you deserve.

If you have a claim for benefits, the attorneys at Greene Reid & Pomeroy are familiar with the complicated laws surrounding these benefits and are equipped to get benefits for you.
