Insurance is put in place to provide us with a sense of security. Your insurance company is supposed to be your safety net when tragedy strikes. There’s something you need to understand though. The insurance adjuster is paid to protect the interests of their employer – the insurance company. It’s not in their best interests to payout. I’m going to address some of the tactics insurance companies use to limit payouts on claims. If you understand how insurance companies operate and learn what insurance companies are not telling you the better prepared you’ll be when a tragedy happens.

Providing for other in a selfless manner is the very nature of military service members. Servicemen and women personify the definition of a hero. Because of the continued sacrifice of these brave men and women who defend the liberties and peace we enjoy each day, we are able to have the opportunities to pursue our dreams and become the individuals we know we can become. But there are heroes behind the scenes. The families of our military heroes sacrifice for our freedoms as well. The greatest measure of respect we can bestow upon a fallen hero is to support that soldier’s family. Continue reading
How you should select an attorney to help you if you’ve been injured and why it is important.
Today, everyone routinely sees ads for lawyers on T.V. In fact, our firm advertises.
Should you hire a lawyer based solely on the fact that they advertise on T.V., perhaps they have a slogan or a catchy, easy to remember telephone number. Is that a reason to hire a lawyer to represent you when you have been hurt?
Spring is Time for Motorcycle Accidents
You can ask any experienced personal injury lawyer when motorcycle accidents most often take place. I guarantee you the response will be, “In the spring, of course. That’s when no one is looking for motorcycles.”
Of course as a motorcycle rider, you know all too well, most motorcycle accidents occur in the spring.
In the state of New York, the No-Fault Insurance law was enacted in order to reduce the number of law suits being filed, which were arising over disputes about who was responsible for paying an injured party’s medical bills, lost wages, and claims for pain and suffering. The No-Fault system is meant to protect an injured person from basic economic loss. Primarily, medical bills, other necessary expenses including travel expense to and from medical facilities, prescriptions, household assistance, and wage loss. It is not a system meant to resolve on an injured person’s claim for pain and suffering or what is otherwise referred to in the Insurance law as a “Serious Injury” claim.
The holiday season is upon us. For many the holiday season includes having family and friends come to visit and venturing out to restaurants and stores to go shopping. In Syracuse and Central New York the holiday season also means snow and ice. It is important for business owners and home owners to ensure that their stores and sidewalks are safe for guests.
The Assumption Food Pantry on Syracuse’s North Side is in dire straits and may not be able to help out the hundreds of families it serves. The pantry needs thousands of dollars so it doesn’t have to close at the end of the year.
The Assumption Food Pantry is located on North Salina Street in Syracuse. Just three years ago, 135 families were registered to receive food each month but has grown to now serve 900 families. If the pantry can’t stay open, all 900 families would be without the help they rely on.
James E. Reid, Esq., has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.
The induction ceremony at which James E. Reid, Esq., became a Fellow took place recently before an audience of approximately 1500 persons during the recent 2013 Annual Meeting of the College in San Francisco, California.
Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for the Fellowship.
Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,789 members in the United States and Canada, including active Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Judicial Fellows (those who ascended to the bench after their induction) and Honorary Fellows. The College strives to improve and elevate the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the trial profession. Qualified lawyers are called to Fellowship in the Collage from all branches of trial practice. They are carefully selected from among those who customarily represent plaintiffs in civil cases and those who customarily represent defendants, those who prosecute accused of crime and those who defend them. The College is thus able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.
Syracuse lawyer, James E. Reid, Esq., is the senior partner in the firm of Greene & Reid, PLLC, and has been practicing in this city for 34 years. The newly inducted Fellow is an alumnus of Syracuse University College of Law.
